Spaciousness home with nice views of Lake

Really enjoyed staying at this house. Nice size and location. Loved the hot tub and screened in porch.

Great vacation

It was the perfect home for myself and my entire family. A ton of space and not once felt crowded with everyone there. The lady at aqua vacation was very helpful checking in. Would definitely stay again.

Great stay!

My family had a great time. Close to the water. Clean, comfortable home. Would definitely stay here again.

Great family getaway!

We recently stayed at Howie's Place for 4 nights. It was the first time that we and my husband's parents, siblings and their children were all in the same house! We all had a wonderful time. Tonya, the representative from Aqua Vacation Rentals was awesome throughout the whole process, from booking, to arrival, to checkout! The house is older but has lots of updated areas and is very well stocked. There were plenty of dishes, silverware, cooking equipment, and utensils (even a Ninja blender!). There was also an abundance of towels, beach towels and bed sheets. There's no need to bring anything! We were also supplied with all the basics like toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and laundry detergent. These supplies lasted awhile but if you're there longer than just a few days or are picky, bring some of your own. The location of the house is fantastic. The back yard is nice and big for the kids to run around, the neighborhood was nice to walk around, and the private association beach area is about a 5 minute walk. This beach is pretty rocky but there is some sand and our kids had a great time playing and swimming there. It can get pretty crowded but other guests were all very friendly. The public beach is within walking distance (probably 15-20 minutes) but only about a 5 minute drive. There were 2 parking passes available to us, otherwise it's $12 to park. The public beach gets very crowded and the sand for the most part is okay. It appears as if the beach area isn't groomed...watch for the duck and goose poop! There are some sand dunes to climb which offer great views of the lake and city.

Just want to mention two warnings: the stairs in the house are very narrow and steep and not carpeted so pay attention and hold the railing! Also, the hill to get to the private beach is very steep and rocky!

Overall, we were very pleased with the house and had a great vacation! We are looking forward to coming back!

A clean, comfortable house at a great location!

We stayed in this house for a girls weekend. There were only 4 of us, but we could have comfortably fit several more people. The house seemed to be newly remodeled and was in excellent shape. The hot tub was brand new and extremely clean. The beds were all very comfortable. There is a screened in porch with a large table that was great for eating meals and just gathering around.

The beach across the street was nice for photo ops (especially at sunset) but is rocky (not sandy) so not the best for sunbathing. We tried to sunbath there one morning but were repeatedly bitten by flies. It's a short walk (about 0.5 mile) to the Marina Grand Resort, where they have a coffee shop and a great restaurant (Bentwood Tavern). Their Snowflake martinis were excellent! Another 0.5 mile beyond that is the Stray Dog Tavern, the town's hot spot. But I wouldn't recommend walking to the public beach; that's a bit far, especially if you're carrying a lot of stuff. But the house comes with 2 parking passes for the beach, which saves you the $12 parking fee. I know it can be difficult to find a spot in the afternoon, but we went at 10:30am and the lot was only about half full.

We went to the Round Barn Winery, which was about a 30 minute drive. That was a lot of fun and the wine was good. I recommend making a reservation for a tasting.

The only problem was that the house didn't have a wine opener. So bring your own or ensure that the property manager got one for the house. Otherwise everything was great and we would absolutely return!

Beautiful Home With Lake Views

The pictures don't do this place justice. It is a truly beautiful, clean, home with a lot of thoughtful touches. It has amazing outdoor spaces: the side screened in porch, the backyard with hot tub and grill, and the side fire pit with 2 chairs perfect for a romantic place to watch the sun set on the water. You are really just across the street from the lake. There is a house partially blocking your view but it's an easy walk to get to an unobstructed view. We didn't walk to town- a little far- but not terrible. An easy bike ride.

The house itself has plenty of space- 7 beds!, the basement is great for the kids to hang out and play pool and is more updated than the picture looks. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked every meal.

Bring your own shampoo and a bathing suit.

We are already talking about when we can go back. Worth every penny.

Kate

My sister rented out Howie's Place for my Bachelorette Party back in August. It was conveniently located across the street from the beach and a short drive away from the casino and outlet malls. The house is well maintained and has a home away from home feeling to it! It is clean, cozy and cute! The yard is huge and perfect for a large group. Fun fact- the toilets glow, too! Lol. I would recommend Howie's Place to anyone looking for a weekend getaway, bachelor/bachelorette party and other event that brings you out to the beautiful New Buffalo area. For everything it has to offer, it is a steal for the price! We are going back this year for another bachelorette party and cannot wait!!

Sarah G. I rented Howie's Place for my sister's bachelorette party and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house was more than enough room for all 12 girls that came along. The bedrooms and bedrooms were clean and fully stocked with everything we needed. We had a beautiful view to the lake and the beach was within walking distance. We spent some time at the local wineries and Four Winds Casino, some of the girls even took a trip to the outlet mall, so everything was relatively close and within driving distance. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone!
